In a strategic move, Sacramento Kings’ standout, De’Aaron Fox, has opted to decline a max contract extension offer from the team, setting his sights on a potential supermax deal in the upcoming summer.

As reported by Marc Stein on Substack, the Kings extended the maximum allowable offer to Fox, comprising a two-year deal valued in the range of $100 million. Despite the rejection, both Fox and the Kings are committed to sustaining their successful partnership.

Fox, currently in the third year of his five-year, $163 million contract, has positioned himself for a significant financial leap. The decision to turn down the extension aligns with Fox’s ambition to become supermax eligible during the upcoming offseason.

At 25 years old, the dynamic point guard is delivering an outstanding performance on the court this season. Averaging 30.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists in 36.6 minutes per game, Fox has solidified himself as a key asset for the Kings.
