Coby White’s explosive performance propels Bulls past Pelicans

Coby White delivered a season-high 31 points, and DeMar DeRozan contributed 24 points and 10 assists as the Chicago Bulls (7-14) secured a thrilling 124-118 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans (11-10) on Saturday night.

Despite missing key players like Zach LaVine, who was sidelined with right foot discomfort, the Bulls rallied behind DeRozan’s leadership and White’s explosive scoring.

DeRozan, returning from a left ankle sprain that kept him out of the previous game, played a pivotal role in the third quarter, where the Bulls outscored the Pelicans 36-21, turning the game in their favor.

Torrey Craig and Ayo Dosunmu provided valuable contributions off the bench, each scoring 15 points and collectively hitting four of the team’s 17 3-pointers. Patrick Williams added 14 points and showcased defensive prowess with two crucial blocks.

Despite Zion Williamson’s impressive 27-point performance for the Pelicans, the Bulls’ resilient third-quarter surge proved decisive.

The Pelicans, missing key players CJ McCollum and Trey Murphy III and playing their second game in as many nights, couldn’t sustain their first-half lead as the Bulls mounted a comeback.

The victory snaps a three-game winning streak for the Pelicans, setting the stage for their In-Season Tournament quarterfinal in Sacramento on Monday.
