The anticipation for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 has reached new heights as the FIBA Executive Committee has officially announced the host nations for the men’s competitions.
As it was rumored, Greece, Latvia, Puerto Rico, and Spain have been granted the privilege of hosting the four Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. Scheduled to take place from July 2 to 7, 2024, these tournaments will unfold in the cities of Piraeus, Riga, San Juan, and Valencia.
24 teams are set to vie for victory across the four tournaments. Nineteen teams secured their spots through the FIBA World Cup 2023, while the remaining five teams earned their places by triumphing in the Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments held this August.
The teams qualified for the Olympic Qualifying Tournaments include Egypt, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Montenegro, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Greece, Georgia, Finland, Lebanon, Philippines, Mexico, Angola, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Bahamas, Bahrain, Poland, and Croatia.
The stakes are high, as the triumphant team from each Olympic Qualifying Tournament will secure their golden ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
These victors will join the seven teams that have already clinched direct qualification from the World Cup, along with the host nation, France.
To set the stage for this thrilling journey, the official Draw Ceremony for the Olympic Qualifying Tournaments is scheduled to take place today at 19:00 CET at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball, FIBA headquarters.
