The Grizzlies opened the 2023-24 season with four straight losses, a surprising turn of events for one of the top teams from the previous season.
Newcomer Marcus Smart, who was traded to the Grizzlies this offseason, recently shared his perspective on Memphis’ challenging start.
“You can’t get too high; can’t get too low because it’s a long season,” Smart said, per Michael Wallace of Grind City Media. He added that the team needs to lock in on the defensive end during critical moments.
“It’s part of the learning process, part of coming into something new for everybody. For us, it’s just to keep going. Eventually, the tide is going to turn. Things are going to click. It’s just taking some time right now,” Smart reassured.
Memphis is facing early-season hurdles with star Ja Morant suspended and several key players, including Steven Adams, Brandon Clarke, Derrick Rose, and Santi Aldama, dealing with injuries.
