The Memphis Grizzlies are facing a significant setback as their seasoned starting center, Steven Adams, is slated to sit out the entirety of the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season.

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski’s tweet, Adams, 30, will be undergoing season-ending surgery on his right cruciate ligament.

The decision for surgery was made after attempts at non-operative rehabilitation failed to resolve the persistent knee instability.

Adams’ absence marks a significant loss for the team, given his valuable on-court contributions, particularly in scoring, rebounding, which have been instrumental in the Grizzlies’ performances in previous seasons.

Memphis will also be without the suspended Ja Morant for the first 25 regular season games.
