D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Davis lead Lakers past Magic

D’Angelo Russell’s impressive fourth-quarter performance, coupled with Anthony Davis’ dominant display, propelled the Los Angeles Lakers to a thrilling 106-103 victory over the Orlando Magic, handing the Magic their first loss of the season.

The Lakers’ late surge, fueled by Russell’s 28 points and James’ crucial 19 points, helped secure the win as they finished with a 12-5 run in the final four minutes, overcoming a persistent Magic side.

Russell’s exceptional shooting, including three crucial 3-pointers, proved instrumental in the Lakers’ comeback, with both James and Davis combining for the team’s final 30 points in the closing minutes of the game.

Despite a valiant effort from the Magic, highlighted by strong performances from Gary Harris Jr. (17 points), Franz Wagner (16 points), and Jalen Suggs (15 points), their late offensive struggles ultimately cost them the victory.

The Lakers, dealing with the absence of Rui Hachimura due to an eye injury, relied on the contributions of new backup big man Christian Wood, who provided a solid performance with nine points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.
