Veteran point guard Chris Paul, known for his distinguished career as a starter, began a game from the bench for the first time in his 19-year NBA journey as the Golden State Warriors triumphed over the Houston Rockets (106-95).
Despite the adjustment to a new role, the 38-year-old player displayed his signature finesse on the court, contributing 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists in 27 minutes of gameplay.
Reflecting on the experience, Paul admitted that the change felt notably different, acknowledging the contrast from his longstanding record of consecutive game starts.
“It was different. I mean, Klay told me [I started] 1366 straight games. Something like that. It’s definitely different. But at the end of the day it’s basketball,” he said.
When queried about his feelings toward the bench role, Paul candidly expressed his openness to the new experience, saying, “Did I like it? Who likes new things? It ain’t about liking it or whatnot. It’s new. I don’t know, it’s crazy. I don’t hate it.”
