After spending three years with the New York Knicks, Obi Toppin recently shared his thoughts on his departure from the team following his trade to the Indiana Pacers, in exchange for two future second-round picks.
Addressing the transition, Toppin emphasized that the decision was a result of the business side of the sport, underlining the amicable nature of his departure from the Knicks while acknowledging the need to move past any personal sentiments associated with the trade.
Stefan Bondy of the New York Post reported on Toppin’s perspective, highlighting that the issues that led to his departure from the Knicks were not present within the Pacers organization.
“It’s nothing personal,” the former No. 8 draft pick said. “It’s just the business side of things. Obviously I was upset at times but you got to get past that.”
In his initial two outings with the Pacers, Toppin averaged 7.5 points and 4 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game.
