The Sixers are set to release big man Montrezl Harrell as they work towards the regular season roster limit, according to sources shared by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Philadelphia needed to trim down to 15 players from the previous count of 16 on standard contracts before the season opener.
Harrell, who had undergone knee surgery in August after tearing his right ACL and medial meniscus, didn’t play extensively in the Sixers’ rotation last season, averaging 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in just 11.9 minutes per game over 57 appearances.
