Miami Heat forward Duncan Robinson, an undrafted success story in the NBA, opened up about his path to success and the focus on honing his strengths.

Robinson, 29, currently under a 5-year, $90 million contract with the Heat, shared insights into his approach during an interview with Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The sharpshooter emphasized the importance of self-awareness, understanding his role, and maximizing his contributions to the team. “It’s about having awareness over who I am, what I do, and what I can bring,” Robinson explained.

He also acknowledged his tendencies to overcomplicate his game, stating, “I get so obsessed with trying to expand this, that, or whatever, instead of honing in on what makes me unique, different from other players, and trying to tap into that.”

Robinson’s offseason efforts have primarily focused on fine-tuning his strengths, particularly his elite floor spacing and catch-and-shoot abilities.

Additionally, he expressed greater confidence in attacking the basket and his decision-making skills, indicating his commitment to improving and evolving as a player.

“I think I feel more comfortable attacking the basket now than I have in the past,” Robinson said. “So that’s part of it, knowing that, trusting my decision making, too. Like getting a paint touch and trusting my decision making from there.”
