As the Toronto Raptors gear up for the upcoming season, one topic that continues to resonate within the team is the departure of their longtime point guard, Fred VanVleet.

In a significant offseason move, VanVleet made the decision to leave the Raptors and sign with the Houston Rockets, marking the end of his tenure with Toronto.

Scottie Barnes, one of the rising stars on the Raptors’ roster, recently shared his thoughts on VanVleet’s departure as the team prepares for training camp.

The 22-year-old forward acknowledged the impact of losing VanVleet but also expressed optimism about the opportunities it presents.

“Losing Fred [VanVleet] was a huge loss, but it just opens up more opportunities for other people and myself,” Barnes stated. “I feel like we’re going to do really well this year.”

VanVleet, who had been with the Raptors since 2016, played a pivotal role in the team’s championship run in 2019.

His departure undoubtedly leaves a void, but Barnes and the Raptors are determined to move forward and make a strong showing in the upcoming season.
