The NBA offseason was abuzz with the unexpected move by the Golden State Warriors, trading for veteran point guard Chris Paul.

The deal, which sent shockwaves through the basketball world, saw Paul leave the Washington Wizards following the Bradley Beal trade.

The acquisition of the 38-year-old Paul, a former rival to the Warriors, raised eyebrows and questions. Even Warriors owner Joe Lacob admitted his initial surprise. “When I first heard that and thought about it, I was like, ‘Really?'” he said on The TK Show, via Alex Espinoza of 95.7 The Game.

However, as Lacob and the Warriors organization delved deeper into the prospect, they began to see the potential benefits of adding CP3 to their roster.

Lacob noted, “He’s a great player. He’s always made other people better.” The Warriors believe that Paul’s leadership and playmaking abilities could be the missing piece in their championship puzzle.

While Chris Paul has yet to secure an NBA championship, the Dubs see an opportunity for him to achieve that milestone in Golden State. “It would be a hell of a storybook ending to his career if he was able to do it with us. We kinda warmed to the idea,” Lacob said.
