As the FIBA World Cup intensifies, anticipation builds for the clash between two undefeated teams, Lithuania and Team USA, to determine the victor of Group J.

While both squads have secured their spots in the quarterfinals, Lithuania’s head coach, Kazys Maksvytis, provided insights into his team’s strategy for this matchup.

Maksvytis acknowledged the significance of facing the American juggernaut, stating, “We don’t play every day against the Americans – against the best coaches, against the best players. It will be fun just to compete with them.”

However, he also emphasizes the need to balance competitiveness with conservation: “We will try to win, but probably with a bigger rotation so that we have more energy for other battles.”

Maksvytis addresses the unique aura surrounding Team USA at the FIBA World Cup. “They don’t live at the same hotel [like other teams], and when they play, the gym is full of spectators. They hold an exceptional status,” he noted, highlighting the palpable presence and reputation that Team USA carries with them.
