In an unexpected twist, Canada showcased their dominance by securing an impressive 30-point advantage over the formidable France, concluding the game at 95-65 and sending a powerful message on the tournament’s first day.

The Indonesia Arena hosted a gathering of 12,091 enthusiastic onlookers, eagerly anticipating a clash of titans in Group H.

Despite the high anticipation, it was Canada that managed to seize attention with a remarkable display, leaving a lasting impact and establishing a remarkable benchmark for their campaign in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

“They were really physical with us, taking us out of our set plays,” Evan Fournier said. “They forced us to do things we didn’t want to do. As the game went on, they kept applying pressure and it just got the best of us.

“The second quarter was the beginning of the fall down. So, congrats to them – they played a good game.”
