Landing in the Detroit Pistons is a dream come true for Monte Morris.

And when he found out that he’ll get shipped to MoTown by the Washington Wizards this offseason, the inner child in him suddenly jumped with joy and delight.

“I always dreamed about playing for the Pistons. This is where I grew up.”

Morris surely knows what he’s saying as he hailed from Grand Rapids, Michigan which only needed around two hours of travel to reach Pistons games at their former home in the Palace of Auburn Hills.

During Morris’ childhood, Detroit was one of the powerhouse teams in the NBA and has boasted their “Goin’ to Work” banner that allowed them to net the 2004 championship. Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace and Tayshaun Prince were a terrorizing five-man lineup with their suffocating and physical defensive dominance.

Now, the veteran guard can only hope that he’ll serve as an important piece to his hometown team’s recovery of their lost glory.
