The Dominican Republic may see themselves get enforced for the FIBA World Cup as Karl-Anthony Towns appears set to represent them.

According to the country’s president of basketball federation Rafael Uribe, there is a 90-percent probability that the Minnesota Timberwolves star will help them on their World Championship campaign in the Philippines.

The star big man is coming off his eighth campaign in the NBA for the Timberwolves. He was just limited to 28 regular season games due to a lengthy calf recovery but managed to compile a still solid 20.8 points, 8.1 boards, and 4.8 assists.

Should Towns becomes available, it will mark the very first time after 11 years that he’ll represent the Dominicans at a senior level of international basketball. At age 16, he previously helped his nation to clinch the top finish of the 2012 Centrobasket.

The Dominican Republic is within the Group A of the tournament and will play Italy, Angola, and the host country in the Philippines for the group phase.

The 2023 FIBA World Cup will commence from Aug. 25 to Sept. 10 with Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines sharing the hosting rights.
