Dillon Brooks expressed his optimism that the Houston Rockets team he joined will replicate the promise he enjoyed during his time as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Brooks told reporters on Monday that he’s been feeling the vibes of his former Grizzlies squad to the young Rockets team that he is now part of.

“I feel like it’s almost the exact same team from three, four years ago,” Brooks said. They have the same type of players. Jalen Green is like Ja Morant. Jabari (Smith Jr.) is like Jaren Jackson Jr. These are young guys that can expand their games to be one of the best, or the best, in the league.”

Ja Morant and the Grizzlies started from the bottom as a rebuilding team, but they were able to reap massive growth and ascension of contending status quickly. As such, Brooks can only hope that as the team’s newest veteran, he can share the lessons he absorbed from his fruitful experience in Memphis.

After three-straight years of basketball mediocrity, the Rockets are vying to elevate their status upon the coaching hire of Ime Udoka as well as the key free agent signings of Brooks and All-Star guard Fred VanVleet.
