The Brooklyn Nets are guaranteeing Royce O’Neale’s 2023-24 salary, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
O’Neale will now earn a full $9.50 million based on the last year of his contract in contrast to a half-guaranteed $2.5MM. The deadline for the Nets to guarantee him is today, and they’ll indeed allow the forward to attain its full salary.
Acquired by the Nets from the Utah Jazz in last year’s offseason, O’Neale served as a vital 3-and-D wingman for the club in 76 regular season games of 2022-23 by averaging 8.8 points, 5.1 boards, 3.7 assists and 38.9 percent shooting from trey.
Amid trade speculations, Brooklyn appears to still stick around with O’Neale. As such, given their logjam at the wing which has Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith, the club may still consider him as a trade piece moving forward with that sizable salary he got.
