The Detroit Pistons are acquiring Monte Morris in a trade with the Washington Wizards, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. In return, the Wizards will obtain the Pistons’ 2027 second-rounder (via Josh Robbins of The Athletic).
Morris is already bound to get traded upon the Wizards’ instant logjam at their backcourt following the acquisitions of both Jordan Poole and Tyus Jones.
He will join a Detroit club that aims to catapult themselves for a chance to contend next season. His scoring and playmaking, evident from his 10.3 points and 5.3 assists average for the Wizards last 2022-23, will be reliable for the Pistons.
Washington made a major splash earlier after inking Kyle Kuzma to a reported four-year, $102MM deal.
