The Sacramento Kings have exercised their $1.9MM team option on Kessler Edwards for the 2023-24 season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN tweets.

The Kings have acquired Edwards from the Brooklyn Nets in a midseason trade last season. From a minimal exposure as a Net, he went on to receive ample playing time with the Kings for 22 games by churning 3.9 points and 2.1 boards in 43.5 percent shooting.

The retention of Edwards allows the Kings to maintain another piece at their wing slate, as the young forward has shown he can be relied on for bench production.

Edwards will become an unrestricted free agent next offseason.
