Ergin Ataman takes over Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos has made a significant move in their quest to regain European basketball supremacy by appointing Ergin Ataman as their new head coach.

The two-time Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion joins Panathinaikos on a two-year contract after a successful stint with Anadolu Efes, where he led the team to consecutive EuroLeague titles in 2021 and 2022.

Ataman, named EuroLeague Coach of the Year in 2021, brings a wealth of experience, having coached a total of 389 EuroLeague games with various teams.

Panathinaikos hopes that Ataman’s track record of success will help revitalize the team, which has struggled to make the playoffs in recent years. With Ataman’s appointment, Panathinaikos looks set for an active offseason, as they aim to bolster their roster and return to their winning ways.
