LeBron James appears to clap back against Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone’s recent playful retirement jokes.
On Instagram, James aired a shot against Malone and went on to note “Enjoy your light but just know I’m the SUN” which may seem to be a jab also on the reigning champ Nuggets.
Malone made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show this week and joked about possibly retiring following the Nuggets’ first championship win. His remark drew funny reactions from fans as many have perceived it as connected to the four-time league MVP.
After the Los Angeles Lakers were swept by Denver in the Western Conference Finals, news broke out that the 38-year-old James is reportedly contemplating retirement and returning to hardwood for the 2023-24 campaign.
Both James and Malone do hold familiarity with each other as they share significant ties from the past. Malone was an assistant for the future Hall of Famer and the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2005 to 2010.
