Following the departure of long-time Warriors general manager Bob Myers, there are questions about what direction the team will take. One those questions is the future of Draymond Green.

The four-time NBA champion has a player option for next season that he can exercise until June 29. Former NBA player JJ Redick thinks that him leaving the team would end Golden State’s contention for a championship.

“Absolutely not,” Redick replied when asked if the Warriors can contend without Green. “Draymond is so important to everything they do on both sides of the basketball… He is the anchor of that defense. When the Golden State Warriors have contended, it’s because they had great defense.

“You lose him with really no way to replace him, you’re not winning an NBA Championship… They are not winning without Draymond and there’s no way to replace Draymond if he does leave.”

This past season 33-year-old Green averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 31.5 minutes per game.
