Paulius Motiejunas emerges as front-runner to succeed Marshall Glickman as EuroLeague CEO

According to a tweet by Marc Mundet of RAC1, Paulius Motiejunas, the CEO of Zalgiris Kaunas, is the favorite candidate to replace Marshall Glickman as the CEO of EuroLeague.

The owners of the teams are set to vote on this option, with indications pointing towards Motiejunas as the leading choice. However, it is believed that this appointment will be on a provisional basis for one year until a definitive solution is found.

Motiejunas has an impressive track record as the CEO of Zalgiris since 2013. Under his leadership, the Lithuanian team has become a formidable presence in EuroLeague, culminating in their historic appearance in the Final Four in 2018, a feat they had not achieved since 1999. Motiejunas has been recognized for his contributions to the league, winning the EuroLeague CEO of the Year award in both 2018 and 2019.

Prior to his role at Zalgiris, Motiejunas has held various positions within the organization, as well as working for the Lithuanian Basketball Federation and EuroLeague. His extensive experience in the basketball industry, coupled with his successful tenure at Zalgiris, makes him a strong candidate for the EuroLeague CEO position.

The departure of Marshall Glickman, who assumed the role last summer, has prompted the Euroleague Commercial Assets’ Board of Directors to convene and discuss the next steps in appointing a new CEO. As the potential successor, Motiejunas brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, setting the stage for a promising future for EuroLeague under his leadership.
