Jimmy Haslam and his Haslam Sports Group have completed their purchase of the Milwaukee Bucks ownership stake from Marc Lasry this Friday, per Eben Novy-Williams of Sportico. The payment made by Haslam reportedly reached $3.2 billion in value.

Haslam agreed to buy the ownership part of the Bucks from Lasry last February. The powerhouse NBA team is now added under his governing watch, joining both the Cleveland Browns and the Columbus Crew.

Lasry previously handled the controlling ownership duties of the Bucks with Wes Edens, as they purchased the club for $550 million from Herb Kohl back in 2014.

Since then, Milwaukee gradually transformed into one of the best teams in the league and has been salivating the current golden era of its history thanks to the greatness of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Under the partnership of Lasry and Edens, the Bucks completed the construction of Fiserv Forum in 2018 and eventually clinched their first NBA title after 50 years in the 2020-21 season.

The ownership takeover of Haslam has a major implication on the Bucks’ spending power and the management of its roster in the offseason, as the franchise remains determined and in a position to contend for years to come with Antetokounmpo. Brook Lopez, Jae Crowder, and Joe Ingles are set to hit the market in the summer as unrestricted free agents.

Sealing the best record of the 2022-23 regular season (58-22), Milwaukee has the home-court advantage of the entire NBA Playoffs this year which will kick off on Saturday.
