Gregg Popovich is one of the most vocal people in the NBA when it comes to political issues. He makes his political leanings clear.

Most recently, he spoke in Dallas against the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (the right to keep and bear arms), calling it a ‘myth’ and calling for gun control. The comments were directed at the Republican legislators in Texas.

Journalist Steve Kim called out the five-time NBA champion for his hypocrisy, pointing out that Popovich never brings up these topics when his team is playing cities controlled by the Democrats that have serious gun violence issues.

“Pop has become the Keith Olbermann of NBA coaches,” Kim said on Fearless with Jason Whitlock. “Look, I get it everyone has leanings, they’re allowed to have their opinions. Here’s the issue I have with Pop.

“If he really cares about this issue and those that are affected by gun violence, he plays in a league that travels to various cities like Chicago, Washington D.C., Memphis, Philadelphia and L.A. which are plagued by this. But it’s funny, when he is in those cities on road trips he never brings it up.

“All of a sudden he wants to talk basketball. It’s all about the Xs and Os. But he’s not talking about gun violence then. Why you think that is? But he wants to go out there and grand stand like he’s the elder statesman.”
