Blazers GM: “It’s time for us to start winning basketball games”

The Trail Blazers closed a disappointing season with a 56-point loss against the Warriors (101-157).

For the second year in a row Portland missed the playoffs. Just like last year, the team finished 13th in the Western Conference.

Blazers general manager Joe Cronin admitted during the end-of-season press conference that it was difficult for head coach Chauncey Billups to win with the roster that he has assembled.

“I think he’s done a great job,” Cronin said about Billups, via Sean Highkin. “I don’t think I dealt him a great hand this season. I don’t think I did him any favors by giving him the lack of depth that would have given him any sustainability.”

Looking to the next season, Cronin says that it is time to back to winning and promises to add more veterans to the roster.

“We don’t want to go through this anymore. It’s time for us to start winning basketball games. Not just for [Dame] but for all of us. We don’t want to have another year like this.”
