When the Lakers acquired Anthony Davis and the Clippers added Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in 2019, many viewed this as a start of a new rivalry.

Aside from both teams being from Los Angeles, they had added superstars and high expectations were associated with that.

However, there were no important games played between the Clippers and the Lakers since then. Moreover, the former dominated the latter during regular season games.

Clippers head coach Ty Lue, who said that this will be a big game for his team, again emphasized the importance of it.

“This is probably the first meaningful game we’ve played against them,” Lue said about tonight’s game, via Andrew Greif.

The two teams have identical records (41-38) and the winner of the tonight’s game will take the sixth place in the standings and will be in pole position to clinch a direct playoff spot.
