REPORT: Andrew Wiggins set to be back in Golden State after long absence

Andrew Wiggins will make his return to the Golden State Warriors early this week, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Sources further told Woj that Wiggins is set to arrive in Bay Area as soon as the next 24 hours.

Wiggins, who has been inactive since Feb. 13 in a win against the Washington Wizards, has missed 22-straight games for the Warriors until the team’s 112-110 Sunday defeat against the Denver Nuggets. The franchise went on to disclose last month that the star wingman is attending to a family matter.

With Wiggins slated to finally be back, all of the swirling doubts, anxiety, and negativity throughout the Dub Nation suddenly disappeared. This inactivity for over a month developed major speculations, and even unfair cheating allegations on social media against the girlfriend of the 28-year-old forward.

Averaging 17.0 points, 5.0 boards, and 2.3 assists, Wiggins’ soon return can’t be more critical of the Dubs’ significant intent to evade the play-in tournament, clinch a higher playoff spot, and prepare for their title defense. His reliable scoring and defensive versatility unlock the Warriors’ lethal capabilities on a nightly basis, wherein his outstanding contributions in the franchise’s last year’s title run serve as clear evidence.

Golden State (41-38) sits at the sixth spot of the Western Conference board, just below the fifth-placers L.A. Clippers that hold their tiebreaker, while in a 0.5 game advantage over the current seventh-ranked and current play-in leader Los Angeles Lakers.

This week, they are set to play two of their last three games remaining to their regular season schedule: Wednesday against Oklahoma City Thunder and Friday by taking on the Sacramento Kings.
