Philadelphia 76ers assistant Sam Cassell has been linked to Temple University’s current search for its newest basketball head coach. Per Mike Scotto of HoopsHype, the former league point man has drawn interest from the Owls’ hoops program to be their newest play caller.

Still, as pointed out by Scotto, Cassell remains focused to help the 76ers potentially win the NBA title this 2022-23 season.

Cassell, 53, has been one of the most notable head coaching candidates in the NBA, but he remains a mainstay in assistant opportunities. Since retiring in 2009, he committed himself to coaching but has yet to be at the strategic helm to lead a team.

It is yet to be seen if he will answer Temple’s call for his service, but Cassell will certainly perform wonders given his intelligence, playing experience, and the amount of admiration and hiring interests he gains around the association.

Aaron McKie, the Owls’ former player, took a downward step and left the team’s head coaching slate after four years to become their special advisor to the athletics department.
