Despite the roller coaster rides this season, Sean Marks is expected to still remain as the Brooklyn Nets general manager for the 2023-24 season, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

This season served as the official conclusion of the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving saga of the franchise record books. For 3 ½ seasons filled with disappointments, Marks did his job splendidly amid the overwhelming drama that occurred.

As such, the ex-NBA player deserves some credit after constructing the Nets’ newest generation in the post-Durant era. He acquired a plethora of savvy veterans in Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith while landing core pieces Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson.

He also extended Jacque Vaughn’s head coaching contract this season which further strengthens his position at the helm of the franchise’s brain trust.

Despite the split-up made for both Durant and Irving, Brooklyn is still planted on a playoff seat with the sixth-best record (37-28).

Amid this, Lewis pointed out that Marks’ current contractual status remains unclear as to whether owner Joe Tsai intends to extend him or not.
