Steph Curry was the main star of the Warriors when Kevin Durant decided to join the team in 2016. After averaging 30.1 points per game the previous year, his scoring number went down to 25.3 minutes per game.

He made a sacrifice in order to accommodate Durant. According to Andre Iguodala, Curry sacrifice the cost for KD while the two played on the same team.

“I think Steph took a back seat every year,” Iguodala tol Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, via R.P. Salao of ClutchPoints. “I’m talking about stats-wise, numbers-wise, attempts-wise. … Steph was the one that sacrificed the most. How many more threes would he have if KD didn’t come along?”

Golden State won two NBA championships with Durant – in 2017 and 2018.
