Austin Reaves loving stay in L.A. amid looming FA status

The Los Angeles Lakers took a gamble on the undrafted Austin Reaves last season. As such, the young swingman is open to remaining with the franchise for years to come.

Asked by HoopsHype’s Mike Scotto about his insights regarding his future, Reaves stated that he has no worries for now as he is enjoying his time in L.A.

“I don’t really think that far ahead. I’m just trying to win games. I love being in Los Angeles, and I love being a Laker. Kobe Bryant was my favorite player growing up, so getting an opportunity to play for the Lakers is a big blessing.”

Starting from a two-way contract, Reaves took the hard road and elevated his status in the NBA as one of the most intriguing young role players today. As such, he has a big chance this upcoming offseason to get paid as an expiring asset.

This season, Reaves is averaging 10.8 points, 3.1 boards and 2.2 assists for Los Angeles.
