Phoenix Suns CEO Joey Rowley is planning not to step down yet amid allegations of workplace misconduct against him, per ESPN’s Baxter Holmes. Rowley noted the employees this intent during a Dec. 19 meeting.
The said meeting happened on the same day when Baxter released a report that says Rowley is “at the center of allegations of verbal abuse, retaliation, and intimidation in the workplace.”
“I will say this in regards to the closed-door meeting,” a statement released by the Suns, which came from Rowley himself. “I confided in them that the story misrepresented me and others. Also, given that the team is going through a period of ownership transition, I communicated that while I do not know my ultimate fate with new ownership, I will never quit on this team and the people who make up this great organization.”
The Suns and the Phoenix Mercury franchise have a new owner after billionaire Matt Ishbia gained it via a $4 billion purchase from Robert Sarver.
Sarver was forced to sell both franchises due to public pressure rooted in his workplace misconduct – an improper activity that prompted the NBA to suspend him from his governor duties.
