The defending NBA champions are currently in the 9th place in the Western Conference. As the trade deadline approaches, the Warriors, like many other teams, will look for ways to improve their roster.

For Golden State the goal is clear – contending for another title. The team’s owner Joe Lacob says that in addition to making the team better, it would be good to use the trade market to improve its financial situation.

However, the priority is to win now, so any potential financial improvements would be done as long as they don’t compromise the chances of winning.

Via Tim Kawakami of The Athletic:

“And the trade deadline is coming up, we’ll see if there’s a way we can improve our team, and if we can obviously improve our financial situation going forward, we would love to do that. But not at the sacrifice of being able to win. We’ve got to evaluate this in real-time but with a look toward the future as well.”
