Damian Lillard says Chauncey Billups told Blazers they’ve been two different teams so far

Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard said that head coach Chauncey Billups told the group they’ve been two different teams this season after last night’s 120-107 road loss vs. the Denver Nuggets.

(via Portland Trail Blazers):

“It was a tough 3rd quarter. They had a couple days of rest. We had a day in between our last game as well. But it’s tough to win in this league, man. To win consistently in this league, you gotta be able to sustain your focus and be engaged on a nightly basis. Everybody has guys with ability, but the difference in the good teams, the average teams, and the bad teams is who can sustain that focus and be engaged for longer periods of time. Not just over the course of a game, but over the course of stretches of games and over a long season. Right now, we’re that team sometimes. And sometimes, we’re not. After the game, Chauncey said it best, ‘We two different teams. We come out and we one team, we win. And then, we come out with another team and we lose.’ I think the biggest takeaway from that is just it’s not easy to sustain, and that’s a major area of growth for us as a group.”
