Tom Thibodeau has no idea if Jalen Brunson will play Monday for Knicks

New York Knicks mentor Tom Thibodeau is unsure if Jalen Brunson will find his way to be available on Monday against the Chicago Bulls.

Brunson left prematurely on the Knicks’ 112-99 Sunday victory over the Sacramento Kings after Davion Mitchell accidentally landed on his leg, sustaining a sprained right ankle.

As he left the floor, Brunson finished up with 18 markers to go with three boards and three assists to contribute to the win.

“I don’t know [if he’ll play]. To be totally honest, we’ll see where he is [on Monday],” Thibodeau said, per New York Post’s Zach Braziller. “I’ll get a further update from the medical staff when I get back in the locker room.”

Brunson, who was signed by the Knicks last offseason from a marquee public coverage, has planted himself as the starting floor general for the team under Thibodeau. He is currently averaging 20.1 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.3 boards in 46.4 percent shooting.

Should Brunson become absent against the Bulls, Thibodeau may lean towards calling up Derrick Rose to handle the point guard duties temporarily.
