Robert Sarver looking for a new Suns owner who is committed in Arizona: report

As the search for the new owner is still in progress, current governor Robert Sarver is reportedly leaning to find a successor who will still glue the Suns’ franchise in Phoenix.

Team vice chairman Sam Garvin told Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic that Sarver is leaning towards this choice, hoping to find a new owner who will commit himself to the fanbase and community.

“I think he really wants to find someone who loves Arizona, wants to keep (the Suns) in Arizona and is committed to the fans and is committed to the community,” Garvin said. “I think he’ll do a good job on the sale.”

Despite being classified generally as a small market team, the Suns have been receiving warm support from the Phoenix faithful since its establishment in 1968. The location of the club is also fitting and desirable given its warm climate and being near the state of California.

Currently, the Suns are on a rally and still classified as a title contender with Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton leading the charge.

At the start of the 2022-23 season, Sarver officially announced that he’ll start to look at the potential buyers of the ball club, days after he was swarmed by public pressure and multiple sanctions imposed by the NBA due to his workplace misconduct filled by misogyny and racism.
