From one center to another, Alonzo Mourning provided optimistic news regarding the status of his fellow Georgetown great Dikembe Mutombo.
Sharing a picture of him with Mutombo, the Miami Heat legend published an Instagram post on Friday, noting that the former big man has been “in good spirits.” Mourning also expressed his gratitude for those who sent their thoughts and prayers.
Last week, the NBA announced via press release that Mutombo is taking necessary treatment to address his brain tumor. Thousands of fans, colleagues and various circles have expressed their well wishes for the hall of famer following the statement.
Mutombo, 56, was an eight-time All-star who established himself as a terrorizing presence under the rim with his shot blocking ability – earning four Defensive Player of the Year honors in 18 years of his illustrious career.
More than basketball, Mutombo is a prominent humanitarian, very much engaged in community works especially in Africa.
