Darvin Ham reacts to Russell Westbrook taking just 3 shots against Timberwolves

Russell Westbrook played 25 minutes – third highest for the Lakers behind Anthony Davis and Patrick Beverley – in a preseason loss against the Timberwolves.

Yet he finished the game with just 5 points on a 1/3 shooting. After the game Lakers head coach Darvin Ham was asked about Westbrook’s low number of shot attempts.

“Again, we’re playing a positionless style and so the opportunities are not going to always comes with the ball in your hands in terms of Russ,” Ham said. “There’s running lanes, there’s guys that are willing passers that’s going to find him.

“We just got to commit, again, to our running habits, to our spacing. He can find himself in a corner, he can find himself in a dunker, he can find himself pushing the lead in break. I think you saw all of that when we were playing Phoenix in Vegas. It’s something we got to work at.”
