In light of LaMelo Ball’s absence due to an ankle sprain, the Charlotte Hornets are looking to give Terry Rozier an added ball handling assignment this upcoming season.

Ball is set to miss a month of play for the Hornets, and Rozier stands as the only guard who can at least take his sizable role of being a floor general.

“Look, Terry was the starting point guard on a team that went to the Eastern Conference Finals,” head coach Steve Clifford said, referring to the 2017-2018 Boston Celtics (h/t Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer). “So it’s a role that he’s comfortable with. And if that ends up being the situation, that’s how we’d do it.”

More of a shooting guard due to his scoring ability and athleticism, the point man assignment isn’t that hard to take for Rozier.

Rozier averaged 19.3 points, a career-high 4.5 assists, and 4.3 boards in 44.4 percent shooting for over 70 games last season.
