Josh Jackson hopes to revive career in a potential season with Raptors

Former lottery pick Josh Jackson is hoping that he can reignite the fire in his NBA career after the underwhelming progress in the past few years.

Jackson is taking the full responsibility of what his basketball tenure is heading on.

“I can’t say that every organization that I’ve been a part of has been great in helping its players succeed but, with that, what I have learned is you’ve got to be the one to make sure that you’re getting everything that you need,” Jackson told Doug Smith of the Toronto Star. “You have to make sure you’re working on the things you need to work on because, at the end of the day, it is your career, it’s not theirs.”

After being drafted by the Phoenix Suns for the fourth overall pick of the 2017 Draft, Jackson’s career went tumbling. For the past five years, he became a journeyman and played for four different ball clubs.

With a playing opportunity in front of him, Jackson knows what’s in the line further. He is currently signed on a one-year, nonguaranteed contract and fighting for the last roster spot of the Toronto Raptors.

“I’m a strong believer in just taking something away from everything that happens — good or bad,” Jackson said. “That’s all I’ve been trying to do my entire time in the league and, also, from mistakes that I’ve made in the past. I’m trying to help young players to not make those same mistakes.

“Any time I can give a little bit of knowledge that I have to another player who’s come up after me, I take the chance.”
