Chris Paul fortunate of being able to still play the game: ‘I’m looking forward to getting back to work’

Basketball has been the life of Chris Paul since entering the NBA in 2005, and he won’t shy away from any opportunity to express that.

“Year 18 for me will be exciting,” Paul said during his volunteering at Christopher Dena Elementary School in East Los Angeles, per Victoria Hernandez of USA TODAY Sports. “I’m looking forward to getting back to work. Every year brings a new opportunity and I’m fortunate to still be able to play the game I love.”

Though the last campaign has been a zigzag one for him and the Phoenix Suns – from compiling the best regular season to ultimately crumbling in the second round of the playoffs – Paul still has plenty of reasons to be thankful of.

Already at age 37, the star point man is still kicking and active. His game remains elite with that terrific playmaking, passing and unstoppable mid-range jumpers.

A 12-time All-star, multiple All-NBA Team member, and a part of the league’s 75th Anniversary Team, the veteran guard understands that a championship remains yet to be filled in the loaded resume of his career.

But just like what he claimed, every season brings new hope and optimism – and with the Suns, they will start it up in a rematch against the Dallas Mavericks for their Oct. 19 opener.
