Lithuanian Basketball Federation secured commitment of a five-star prospect Matas Buzelis to represent the country in international competitions.

A son of Aidas Buzelis, a former staff member of the Lithuanian national team, also had an option to choose the United States at international level. He is projected to be a top 10 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The player is eligible to represent the Lithuania U-18 team during this year’s European U-18 Championship which start on July 30 in Turkey. However, it is unlikely to happen as he is playing in a prestigious Nike youth league.

Last month it was announced that the 17-year-old small forward decided to skip college as he prepares to enter the NBA and instead play for the G League Ignite during the 2023-2024 season.

Buzelis was ranked as the number 11 player in ESPN’s Top 100 for the Class of 2023. He is currently with the Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas.
