Bulls GM Arturas Karnisovas optimistic on Zach LaVine choosing to stay in Chicago

The Chicago Bulls are holding into their hopes that Zach LaVine will remain in Chicago for the following years to come.

Team executive Arturas Karnisovas made it clear that they are collectively looking forward to LaVine continuing to wear the red and black royals.

“We hope Zach is here for a long time, and nothing changed,” Karnisovas said regarding the impending status of LaVine (h/t Associated Press via ESPN).

LaVine is set to hit the 2022 NBA free agency horizon as an unrestricted player, as his four-year, $78 million contract that he signed last 2018 is now set to expire.

As such, the Bulls can offer a five-year max contract worth around $212 million to convince him to stay. Should he decide to part ways, he is eligible to only pull an approximately $157 million deal with other potential suitors.

In five seasons within the Windy City, LaVine reached his potential of becoming an All-star talent and a significant piece of their future plans. Last year with the club, he finally reached the postseason stage for the first time in his career.

The 2022 free agency market is set to open on June 30 at 6PM E.T.
