Rumors: Cavs ‘very much interested’ to reunite with Ricky Rubio for next season

The Cleveland Cavaliers are enticed by the idea of igniting another partnership with a player that helped them gain a productive 2021-2022 season.

From the recent report of Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, Cleveland “is very much interested” to bring back Ricky Rubio for another season.

Rumors of potential reunion between both sides have already started when the Cavs ultimately fell short for a postseason contention in the Play-In tournament this year, wherein franchise official Jose Calderon was being mentioned as a factor for it to finally happen.

Rubio provided a major boost for the Cavs in the initial parts of the last season while serving as a complementing backup guard for All-star Darius Garland, until he went down with an apparent torn ACL injury.

Due to his unavailability to perform again, the club flipped him up in the trade deadline together with several draft picks for Indiana Pacers wingman Caris LeVert.

As such, to patch up their hole of ball handling options, the Cavaliers decided to trade for Rajon Rondo as a replacement for the Spanish veteran.

In the 31 games he played for the Cavs, Rubio went off for 13.1 points average to go with 6.6 assists, 4.1 boards, and 1.4 steals. His leadership and reliable skills might truly get the Cavs over the hump and seal a playoff appearance after four years of waiting.
