Kyrie Irving, who is eligible to sign an extension this summer, expressed his desire to remain in Brooklyn with his friend Kevin Durant. He has a player option in his contract for the 2022-2023 NBA season which, if used, would earn him $36 million.

Former NBA champion Brian Scalabrine thinks that John Wall would be a better fit for the Nets than Irving because of his size and ability to play multiple positions. Though he does not think that Brooklyn is thinking of swapping the two players.

“I don’t think that Kyrie Irving is as valuable as people think. Here’s where I put him. If I’m Brooklyn, I’m seriously thinking about John Wall over Kyrie Irving,” Scalabrine said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

“If I had a choice, I’m like, you know what John Wall has positional size, I could play him multiple positions. When motivated he can guard. I know he’s missed a ton of games and stuff like that. But so does Kyrie. At least I’d have some size out there. He might be a better fit for me than a Kyrie Irving.”
