Zion Williamson still out even if Pelicans make it to the first round of the playoffs

In spite of the promising showing and potential that the New Orleans Pelicans can achieve for contention, franchise star Zion Williamson will remain inactive in his team’s Friday Play-In showdown against the Los Angeles Clippers and even if it manages to march into the first round of the playoffs.

While Williamson hasn’t been declared unavailable for the remainder of the season, a Pelicans staff told ESPN’s Cassidy Hubbarth that “a return to play is not imminent” for the one-time All-star. Footages of Williamson leaping for thunderous dunks were scattered recently on the social media, thus sparking optimism for NOLA fans that he might finally return sooner.

As such with this latest update, they might have to wait for a while and focus on what their team can offer to snatch the last postseason spot against the Clippers.

Williamson remains shelved and taking his time to fully recover from fractured right foot surgery. He is doing controlled scrimmages and no timetable was announced yet regarding his possible return this season.
