NBA Rumors: Dallas would have “significant interest” in acquiring an available Rudy Gobert

If Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert becomes available in the trade market this offseason, the Dallas Mavericks reportedly would have a “significant interest” to acquire him.

As provided by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon in Zach Lowe’s The Lowe Post podcast, Gobert would also love to play alongside fellow European basketball star Luka Doncic.

As the Jazz continues to march within the postseason arena, the pressure about their future and current foundation keeps rising and rising once they underperform anew. Their head coach Quin Snyder has been the focal point of the coaching transition for the past few weeks, reportedly being targeted by both the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers. Meanwhile, Gobert and his co-star tandem Donovan Mitchell didn’t escape the murmurs about their relationship and issues on the defensive end.

Mark Cuban and his Mavericks franchise will always be proud to present their collection of international talents and would gladly chase more, but trying to land Gobert would be a daunting one because of their available assets to present. The French center has three guaranteed years left in his contract worth $126 million, with a $46 million player option for the 2025-2026 campaign. Not to mention, his defensive mechanism and rim protection would be hard to replace for the Jazz, as these have already become powerful pieces of their contending identity since 2017.

The 29-year-old Gobert, who boasts three Defensive Player of the Year honors, is currently averaging 15.4 points on an efficient 71 percent shooting, a career-high 14.6 boards, and 2.1 blocks this season.
