As the end of the regular season is getting closer, the teams that hope to make the playoffs want their stars to enter the postseason in best shape possible.

Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd is dealing with similar issues as well. He is looking to reduce the minutes of Luka Doncic and Reggie Bullock over the remaining regular season.

The Slovenian superstar is playing 35.6 minutes per game during which he averages 27.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game.

Bullock for his part is playing 26.5 minutes per game but as of late his load has increased. Over the four games in March he is averaging 40 minutes per game.

Via Paolo Songco of ClutchPoints:

“What is it, 18, 17 games left?” Kidd said. “It’s getting the rotations down. And we’d like to get more guys involved here, Sterling (Brown) and Trey (Burke).

“We’ve been running the minutes for those eight to nine guys that we have been playing. So we want to get everybody involved and get some of the minutes down for Luka and Reggie. We’re playing Reggie over 40 minutes a night. So those are the things I’m looking at.”

Dallas is currently in fifth place in the Western Conference with 40 wins and 25 losses. They could still either way in the standings. It would take a massive winning streak to catch the first-placed Phoenix. Looking the other way, the Mavs are almost guaranteed to at least make the play-in tournament.
